I ♥ Cebu

Welcome to the Queen City of the South - Cebu City.

August 13, 2010: Off to Cebu City

Ang flight time namin is 8:00 am. My hubby drove me to chelle's house to pick her up around 5:30 am, then we headed towards joy's house. And then joy's husband drove us to NAIA terminal 3. Ang aga namin,6:15 am, we're already at the airport.

We had burger steak meal for breakfast. Ang babaw noh, Actually hot choco lang pwede na sa akin.

Meet my travel buddies - Chelle (on my left) and Joy (on my right). We've been traveling for quite some time now. And i really really enjoy being with these two bestfriends of mine. :-)

We landed the Mactan-Cebu International Airport  around 9:30 am. This is my first time via cebu pacific, and so i was amazed about the airline's gimmick about "bring me". I am hoping to win someday. (haha, ang babaw talaga!)

Must have if you're new in the city? A MAP! We've learned this from reading different travel magazines. Kasi before, basta makapunta lang kami ng wala man lang kaalam-alam sa lugar. Now we knew what to do this time. hihi.

We decided to wait for a taxi sa pilahan (the white taxi) rather than hiring a yellow taxi for we've learned that they may overprice thier fare on to cebu city.

And so, after 30 mins of waiting, nakakuha din kami ng taxi. My heart drops when we started to enter Mandaue City. (its really worth the wait).
While we're on our way to our Hotel, chinika-chika pa kami ng driver. He's nice naman and he's willing to pick us up para maihatid sa mga places na nasa itinerary namin. Since that's really our plan, we agreed to start our cebu city tour adventure after lunch. We stayed at Roseate Pension House. A not so expensive hotel. Enough for us to stay overnight.

Roseate Pension House:
cor V. Urgello St. and Jose Avenue
Tel No. 254 - 0281/ 245 - 6267 / 418-7152
0921 - 8502009
roseatepensione@yahoo.com
For Standard Room / Twin 2-double size bed, it only costs us P1,138 for 3 persons. Not a bad deal for a fully air conditioned room, cable tv, telephone, and a private bathroom with hot shower.

We first visited the famous Magellan's Cross.

I was amazed by the beauty of this historical place. It did not fail my expectations.
The next place we visited is the Basilica de Sto. Nino which is just across the Magellan's Cross.

One thing i'm learning about traveling is to visit not just the historical places that embarks the richness of one's culture but also the local churche(s) in order for us to ask for guidance along the way. :-)

Our next pit stop is the Fort De San Pedro. I am not fully aware of the history behind those great walls, what i only knew is that the structure was used as military defense during that time. hmmm...sounds interesting.

Next, we headed to one of the most significant historical shrine in the country - the famous Lapu-Lapu Shrine. Super mainit nga lang when we visited the place. I guess mas okay mag-punta if around 4-5 pm. Kasi kami, around 2pm so super taas pa talaga ng araw, nevertheless, the beauty of the place speaks its history.

Another A-Must-Place to visit here in Cebu is the Taoist Temple.Unfortunately, we we're so late, kaya closed na ang temple. It closes at 5pm, and were like late for about 30 mins. Sayang, we intend to climb pa naman the 99 steps of the temple. Well, there's always a next time :-)

Taboan Market is our next destination - the home of dried fish. Ito yung place na hindi pwedeng mawala sa itinerary ng visit sa Cebu. Marami kasing nag-e-expect ng pasalubong :-) So here it is, just choose and select your best dried fish.

We were also able to visit CNT lechon - the best of the best lechon in town. Too bad, we weren't able to take a photo of it.*sad :-(

After buying pasalubong, we had our dinner at Larsian. Sabi nga sa nila, if you haven't heard the word Larsian, you haven't been to Cebu. During our cebu-planning session with my bestbuds, I pictured the place similar to the most common ihawan place here in sta rosa, not until i actually seen the place. Super enjoy ako sa presentation ng rice nila. Sobrang new ito sa akin. In fairness, naka 5-6 pcs yata ako ng rice with more than 5 sticks of ihaw. *burp

(Pasenya na at wala akong picture to show you the whole place, which i think mas okay, just so, you may also experience it yourself as well. hihihi)

We end up our cebu city tour in a breathtaking view of the whole city of Cebu and the island of Mactan in a place called Tops in Busay Hills. For me, its one of the reason why Cebu is called the Queen City of the South for its really shows the sovereign of a kingdom rich in culture and beauty deserving to own a crown. Sobrang romantic ng place and we were like staring with the entire city for about an hour - wishing we could own a city like this :-)

Cebu City tour is truly an amazing experience for me. In fact... I actually left my heart in Cebu :-)
